Behind the Throne: Why There Are No TVs in Our Guest Rooms

Landon King • February 27, 2026

When travelers search for a boutique hotel in Toledo, Ohio, they often expect certain modern conveniences — including a television in every room.

At The Kings Throne Inn & Guest House, we made a different decision.

And it was intentional.

A Different Kind of Stay in Toledo’s Old West End

The Kings Throne is a historic bed and breakfast in Toledo’s Old West End, built in 1892. From the original woodwork to the tall windows that flood the rooms with natural light, this home was designed long before constant screens became the norm.

We chose not to place televisions in guest rooms because we believe rest should feel different here.

Many of our guests come specifically looking for:

  • A quiet hotel in Toledo, Ohio
  • A romantic weekend getaway
  • A historic boutique stay
  • A space to disconnect

Televisions often compete with the very thing travelers say they want most: peace.

What Guests Experience Instead

Without the background noise of television, something subtle happens.

Guests:

  • Sleep more deeply
  • Talk longer
  • Read
  • Open windows
  • Notice the architecture
  • Enjoy slow mornings

There is one television located in the front parlor for shared use, but guest rooms are intentionally designed for restoration.

In a world that constantly demands attention, we wanted to create a place in Toledo where silence feels luxurious.

Boutique Hospitality Is About Intention

A traditional hotel in Toledo may offer uniform amenities in every room. As a small boutique lodging property, we curate each detail carefully.

The absence of televisions:

  • Preserves the historic aesthetic
  • Encourages meaningful connection
  • Supports a calm atmosphere
  • Enhances romantic stays

Guests frequently tell us they didn’t realize how much they needed the break.

Choosing Stillness

The Kings Throne Inn is not designed for everyone — and that’s by design.

If you are searching for:

  • A quiet boutique hotel in Toledo
  • A romantic Old West End getaway
  • A historic bed and breakfast experience
  • A place to truly unwind

You may find that less truly becomes more.

Because sometimes the most luxurious amenity is quiet.
